New car
Owen is playing with a matchbox car I've never seen. I just asked him where he got it and he said, "Oh Mama, it's from San Jose." Whatever you say, buddy.

Where everybody knows your name
I was just snuggling with Owen and he patted my stomach and asked, "Why did we come out of your belly?" I said, "Because you are my babies." He just laughed and shook his head and said, "No, we're Lauren and Owen!"

Carbs, carbs, and more carbs
Tonight I made pesto pasta with corn, one of my kids' favorites. They especially like it when I use the alphabet pasta from Trader Joe's. After Lauren had her FOURTH serving, she asked for more. I told her to give her tummy a break, and if she was still hungry a little later she could have more. She said, "I'm going to sneak out after you go to bed and eat ALL the leftovers because it's SO delicious!"

More prayers needed
In more "what is wrong with this world" news, another one of my friends' kids has been diagnosed with leukemia. Dylan is a happy go lucky boy who was born a few weeks before our wedding, 7.5 years ago. Nicole was about 3 weeks postpartum and I can remember thinking she looked so great for just having a baby. Anyway, Dylan's been complaining of pain for about a month, and the doctors kept chalking it up to growing pains. Call it what you want, mother's intuition, Nicole never let up on the doctors to find out what it was. They ran all sorts of tests: blood work, ultrasounds, MRI's, etc. - you name it, they tried it. In fact, they even ruled out leukemia on the first round of blood work. But something changed, his counts dropped, and last Tuesday he was diagnosed. He started his first round of chemo last Friday. He's been taking it like a champ so far, but it's going to be a long road - 3 years of treatment. Keep the little man in your prayers, please!
What kind of a scary world is it when I currently have two friends with young children (ages 2 and 7) in the SAME hospital undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia AT THE SAME TIME??

Just wait until tomorrow, buddy.

The spice of life
I was just in the kitchen slicing up some mini bell peppers to throw in the crock pot with chicken for dinner. Lauren climbed up into a barstool to see what I was doing. She saw the peppers and said "Ew, I don't like those. I'm not going to eat them." I told her they were good and had lots of vitamins in them to help her cold get better. I reminded her that with a stuffy nose she probably wouldn't even be able to taste them. She said "With a stuffy nose I can't even taste the spice of life??"
I had to come in here to blog it immediately before I forgot!

Ventriloquist
Lauren's been fighting a cold for a few days and her voice just went wonky. She just came up to me with a panicked look on her face and said "Mama, I don't sound like me. I hear that it doesn't have the sound of my voice. I don't sound like ME! I sound like a squeaky mouse."
Pay it forward
I got this from my friend Summer's blog.
Pay it Forward
How it works:
The first three people to leave a comment on this post will receive - at some point during this year - a handmade gift from me. It could be something tasty, crafty, etc. - just needs to be handmade by me. What it will be and when it will arrive will be a total surprise.
Of course there's a catch and the catch is that YOU must play, too!
Before you leave your comment here, write a pay it forward post on your blog to keep the fun going. You can copy and paste these instructions if you want to. Then come back here and leave me a comment. But remember, only the first three comments will get something. Good luck!
*************
I am so NOT crafty, I must fully disclose that! But I was the second person to comment on Summer's post, so now I must play, too.
