Puerta Vallarta: Sunday, day 3

Sunday was Noni's birthday and Valentine's Day.

Adam was up to photograph the sunrise almost every morning

While laying by the pool

Laying on the tile floor watching cartoons in Spanish

Keeping up with homework

We rode the bus to downtown - what an experience!

Intricate sand art

This sand iguana was huge!

Noni and Papa dancing to the live music in the plaza

The kids refused to get out of their strollers to dance, so Papa outsmarted them!

Noni bought the kids some pinwheels and Lauren was enjoying the breeze.

Owen and Papa enjoying dessert

I love the ceilings in all the rooms. Since we first stayed there five years ago, I've often mentioned to Adam that I'd love to have that ceiling in our room!

Amazing work of art

Puerto Vallarta: Saturday, day 2

The kids, enjoying the beach at our hotel

Lauren absolutely loves giraffes, and the hotel was full of art from local artists. She loved these mama and baby Huichol giraffes.

Mama and Owen, sitting in the lobby

Owen loves to take pictures, and apparently this was his favorite piece of art!

Our home away from home for the week

The infamous dessert drink from Victor's

Puerto Vallarta: Friday, day 1

Here's the kids and Daddy playing video games, waiting for the hotel shuttle to take us to the airport.

The kids did great on the flight, Owen's first ever. Lauren flew quite a bit as a baby, but not in the last four years or so.

The first thing we did when we landed was head to our hotel to unpack and unwind. The kids were giddy that they didn't have to use car seats all week! We took it easy, showing the kids around the grounds. We'd been there before, five years ago May, for Adam's 30th birthday, and less than two weeks after Lauren turned one. Adam made a wonderful movie of our trip that year, which both kids have watched over and over. It was fun to see them recognize restaurants and other places from that video.

We walked to the marina for dinner, a nice leisurely walk from our hotel, and enjoyed a delicious meal.

Try this place next time you're in town - free tequila shots, free ice cream for the kids, and free after dinner Kahlua drinks for the adults - SO good! We ate there at least three times, so you'll see pictures later of the drinks.

Let the adventure begin

Noni and Papa took us to Puerto Vallarta last week for a family vacation. I have so many pictures to sort through, so I'm going to be doing one blog post per day of the trip.

We headed to San Francisco last Thursday afternoon when the kids got out of school, so we'd be there and ready for our flight early Friday morning. Here's a shot of the kids in the hotel room. They were pretty excited, if you can't tell!

Jackpot!

Adam was sure he had saved some pesos from our last trip to Mexico. He thought he found them just as we were walking out the door. He excitedly poured out the container to reveal a random assortment of coins. The treasure included coins from Harrah's casino, Chuck E. Cheese, Japanese yen, Canadian coins, Russian coins, silver dollars, etc. He did find about 350 pesos - about enough to buy a pack of gum!

That's what she said

Adam, as he was tucking Lauren into bed tonight: "Sis, you need to clean up your room."

Lauren: "I'm not like you guys, I play in my room."

Owen: "Mama, what color are space aliens? I think green. And maybe black."

A sign of the times

The kids are playing checkers and Owen, as he ran to the bathroom, called out to Lauren, " Sissy, pause the game!"

On the good ship...

Lauren got two lollipops at school today, so I let the kids have them when we got home. I had to get a video of Owen saying the word lollipop. I love the way he drawls out his L's!

Underage drinking

Lauren asked me, as I was pouring a glass of red wine (syrah), what it tasted like. Being Italian AND Catholic, I handed her the glass and told her she could try a sip. She took the smallest sip ever, and with her entire face crinkled up, announced, "Ewwwww, it's like roasted skunk!"
