AKA "Owen is obviously still homeless and confused"
I was out running errands this evening with the kids and my mom and we decided to stop at Taco Bell for dinner. As we pulled in the parking lot Owen piped up from his car seat, "We're home!"

Pictures are here
Adam found my camera cord for me, so I've uploaded the beach pictures here. One to start you off:
And the move-in date is approaching, slowly but surely. Owen is still a little perturbed at not having his own bed, but I think Lauren is going to stay here at Noni and Papa's forever. She's in heaven, sleeping between them almost every night!

We're baaaack!
Got home last night from our family reunion in Santa Barbara and now I'm trying to catch up on sandy beach laundry and figure out where we are with the repairs at the new house. We had a wonderful time: minimal sunburns and lots of family fun! Posting will probably be sporadic at best for the next week or so. I can't post any pictures until I find my camera cord, so you'll have to wait on that. Hope everyone enjoys their last July weekend!

Life's a beach
While Daddy and Noni stay home to work, Papa, the kids and I are headed to the beach in the morning for our annual family camp out. Papa has seven brothers and sisters, and every year we all get together for Christmas and the beach trip. There are 22 grandkids (not including spouses) and 7 great grandkids, so it's quite a big group. Can't wait to get there and see everyone!
Don't worry, we didn't leave Daddy home to unpack the new house without us. It's being worked on all week: scraping the yucky popcorn ceilings, replacing flooring, and painting.

So long, old friend
Well, last night was our last night in our house. We've been there for almost seven years, just 2 months shy. We actually closed escrow on 9-11, THE 9-11. And we got married that week, too. Come to think of it, that week was just about as stressful as this week has been! It's been a good home to us: we first slept there as husband and wife; we brought both of our babies home there; we've got great memories of starting our family there. But we've just outgrown it, the walls feel like they are starting to close in around the blocks and baby dolls. I'm typing this from my parent's house now. The kids are asleep here in the guest room and Adam is still at the house, packing the remaining odds and ends, rolling up rugs, and taking apart furniture. It was eerily echo-y in the house this afternoon, with all the hardwood floors and half empty rooms. The kids have been out of sorts, too, not understanding why all their toys are boxed up. I'll be so glad when this is all over and we're settled in our new place. See you on the other side!

We need fresh air!
We didn't leave the house at all yesterday due to the horrible air quality. At one point, after the kids had been begging me to take them to the park, I opened the curtains and showed them the brown sky. I told them the mountains were on fire so the air was too yucky to breathe and that satisfied them.
We had to run some errands early this morning and the first thing Lauren said as I opened the garage door was, "Hmmm, it's not so disgusting out here anymore."

Shake it to the left, shake it to the right
If I only had my video camera tonight! We went to some friends' house to see the fireworks and they had a boom box playing some tunes while we watched. Well, the girls thought that dancing was more fun than watching the fireworks. And it turns out, they were right! They were busting some crazy moves and most everyone was watching them instead of the fireworks. They were so funny! Turns out they've all been watching "So You Think You Can Dance" and they must've been picking up some contemporary dance moves from it. I've been thinking about signing Lauren up for some hip hop dance lessons, so now I think I will for sure!
Lauren had to take her sweatshirt off because she was working up a sweat.
