Never say never

Yesterday afternoon I was having a conversation with a few of the other preschool moms about emergency room visits - whether we'd had any or not. Well, Murphy's Law was listening when I said we hadn't had cause to take either of the kids in yet. Six hours later, we had to take Owen in because he had a rapid onset high fever and was unresponsive, etc. By the time they took his temperature at the hospital it had spiked to 104.8!

Long story short, he has been diagnosed with facial cellulitis and also has a side effect of a pretty bad ear infection. He got two shots of a very strong antibiotic last night in the ER, and four more followed this morning at the pediatrician's office. We have another appointment in the morning to follow up yet again.

He turned a corner today around 1:30, though. He had been sitting in my lap on the couch all day when he suddenly stood up, climbed onto the arm of the couch, and dive bombed his sister!

Look at how pink his poor little left cheek was! And that is a hospital gown, by the way - I would never put my boy in something that hideous!

Oh no Ali! That must have been incredibly scary for you and A. I'm so glad to hear he's alright and on the mend. If you have any questions, my mom has had several bouts with this and I'm sure she'd tell you all she knows.

Is there anything that you need? What a relief that he is showing signs of improvement! Hang in there mom!

Crazy! Glad he's ok. I panic in situations like that. Jill broke her arm just before she turned 2 and I wanted to life flight her in.
