~Shudder~

The kids have some of those gel window decorations that we let them put on their bedroom windows. Of course, being kids, they can't just leave them there, so I've been finding random pieces and parts on the floor through the house all week. This morning the kids were up watching cartoons and I was setting out their church clothes. I walked into Lauren's room and didn't bother turning the light on, since I was headed straight to the window to open up her curtains. Halfway through her room, I saw another piece of one of those gel forms on the floor, so I picked it up and was rubbing it in my fingers, because they feel so cool. Only then it rubbed my fingers back! I dropped it and yelled a not so good word at the top of my lungs, running for the light. It was a caterpillar, a freaking caterpillar, all curled up in a ball, probably wondering more than me what the H had just happened. I think my heart is still going a mile a minute!

Out of the mouths of babes

Owen has a friend from preschool over this afternoon and upon entering our house she exclaimed, "Wow, your house is so clean!" Even through this is coming from a three year old, I'll take it!

Girls at one, boys at another

Our little family of four spent the morning on pumpkin patch field trips - although not together! Lauren and I went to hers for kindergarten and Owen and Daddy went to his for preschool. It started out cold and muddy (from yesterday's rain) and warmed up to comfortable and muddy. But we got some good pictures and everyone had fun, so that's all that matters.

Time travel

A question I get asked multiple times a day by Owen:

"Mama, right now is it tomorrow?"

Teaching him a thing or two

Papa was a basketball star back in the day, so he's passing his game knowledge on to Owen. Good thing Owen has his Chuck Taylor's on!

Foodie

While eating dinner at Noni and Papa's, Lauren said she didn't want any BBQ'd tri tip. "I don't like the crust. It tastes like burnt worms."

While eating a "snail" Great Grandma brought up from Peter's Bakery, she noticed the cinnamon swirl running through it and commented, "Ew, snail blood."

Strike!

Adam's work had an employee appreciation event last night, and it included bowling, arcade games, jump houses, face painting, and all you could eat pizza. We were there for almost five hours enjoying it all.

Rock on, my friends, rock on.

We went to Uncle Aaron and Lisa's house for dinner last night and ended the evening playing Rock Band. This was our first ever attempt, and Lauren did so great on both the drums and the guitar. I should seriously consider getting that girl some sort of music lessons. We all had a lot of fun, and the night ended in true rock star fashion - someone, not naming any names, passed out on the couch and wet themselves. In their defense, it was way past bedtime!
