Batter up

Caged monkeys

We took down the crib today and I had to get one last picture of the kids in it. My babies are getting so big!

Clarification

While driving through an industrial part of town yesterday:

Daddy: "Hey Lauren, look at all those BIG tractors and diggers over there. Wouldn't it be fun it drive around in those for awhile?"

Lauren: "No, Daddy, I AM NOT a worker mans! Only worker mans can drive those."

Old school toys

Noni saved lots of toys from Uncle Chad and Mama for her grandkids to play with. Here's Lauren enjoying the vintage Little People Village!
(I'm just plying you with pictures so you won't realized I haven't posted in a week!)

Chicken soup for the soul

Not only is he boycotting his crib, he's boycotting his high chair, too.

All better now

I flopped down on my bed tonight after dinner with an upset tummy. The kids both followed me in to see what was wrong. Lauren started patting my belly, and the next thing I knew Owen was covering my face with a tissue, making noises like I do when I'm trying to get him to blow his nose. I had to choke back my giggles. Then Lauren ran out of the room and returned with a miniature pillow (about one inch square!) from her new dollhouse. "Lift your head up, Mama, here you go."

A new beginning

So we've been trying something new for a couple weeks now, laying Owen down in the bottom bunk at bedtime every night. Lauren now prefers the top, and we'd prefer to get the crib out for more floor space. We want him to get used to the big bed before we make the switch. It usually only lasts about 20 minutes before we have to go in and pull him off the top bunk and unload the mountain of toys they've managed to hoard up there.

But tonight I thought it was going to be different. Lauren fell asleep very quickly, leaving him no one to play with. Adam checked on him once, and he was laying with his face buried in a pillow, kicking his feet. Then we heard little footsteps on the hardwood floor in the hallway and had to send him back in. And just now, almost two hours after bedtime began, I just found him sitting in front of the toy box playing. When I crouched next to him to see what he was up to, he refused to make eye contact with me. As I picked him up to put him in the crib he grabbed the closest toy and clutched it to his chest, as if to say "I'm not going down alone!"
